Brain Dead keeps digging through the stranger corners of the adidas catalogue, and this time the Los Angeles label has landed on the Five Ten Guide Tennie Approach, the climbing brand's long-running approach shoe. adidas has owned Five Ten since 2011, and the low-slung, flat-soled silhouette has spent decades as the shoe climbers wear on the walk in to the rock.
The upper is built on mesh in a mottled mauve, layered with hairy suede cut into a honeycomb pattern across the forefoot and quarter panels. Teal lines the collar and tongue, with a purple pull tab at the heel and orange trim around the eyestay, while a large 5.10 logo sits on the lateral heel panel in white. A black rubber rand wraps the toe and runs the length of the midsole, which is marked Stealth above a flat, siped outsole with a grippy heel block.
