Marching band season gives the Swoosh its cue again: the Nike Air Max 97 "Mississippi Valley State University" arrives as part of the latest Yardrunners run, five Air Max 97s built around HBCUs and the bands that fill their stadiums. The 97, first drawn up by Christian Tresser and released in 1997, has carried plenty of stories on those ripple lines, and Delta Devils colours suit it well.
Black mesh and suede make up the base, with the wavy panelling striped in green, white and red across the midfoot and down toward the heel. Red Swooshes sit low on both sides, with a green pull tab at the heel and matching eyelets up top. The white midsole holds a full-length Air unit tinted red, sitting on a green and black outsole.
The Nike Air Max 97 "Mississippi Valley State University" is expected to release on October 30th at 14:00 UTC for $190 in men's sizes through Nike and select retailers.
